World Patient Safety Day – Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety

latest news

September 17 is World Patient Safety Day, a day when clinicians around the world affirm their commitment to improve the safety of patients in their care.

The day is a chance for patients, families, caregivers, heath workers, leaders, and policy-makers to demonstrate their commitment to patient safety.

This year’s theme is ‘Improving diagnosis for patient safety’, highlighting the critical importance of correct and timely diagnosis in ensuring patient safety and improving health outcomes.

To help spread the message of patient safety, SA Ambulance Service is joining healthcare organisations and agencies around the world in lighting up our HQ in orange during the week of World Patient Safety Day.

SA Ambulance Service is the only Australian ambulance service that has twice been accredited with National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) safety standards, demonstrating our commitment to protecting patients and staff. SAAS staff have a responsibility to uphold patient safety and report instances of unsafe practice, and we have internal processes to ensure the safety of all we treat and carry.
